Cron crashes after startup

If your cron daemon crashes after startup.

And you get the following message in your logfiles, the /etc/cron.d directory is missing.

(CRON) STARTUP (fork ok)
(CRON) STAT FAILED (/etc/cron.d)

Create the /etc/cron.d directory and start the cron daemon!
